Nice used 2004,2005 or new 2006-2007
Planning on buying a 530i, was thinking new, but it looks like there may be a few clean 2004 & 05's in my area.
Are you aware of signicant changes over these model years? Was the i drive one issue?
Anything else?
Have not run the numbers, but I suppose if I choose to finance, my payments may not be much different?

You would be better off with an '05 or '06, especially with the increased engine output in the '06 models. Why not get an '07 and get it through European Delivery?

Depends.
Are you comfortable owning a BMW outside the warranty period or put on a lot of miles?
(CPO 6yr/100K warranty works well for people who drive a lot).
Are you buying and plan to hold for a long time or leasing?
(ED leases are great if you will not go over the warranty if you drive a lot).
Do the extra HP of the 2006/2007 models matter to you?
I personally believe in either doing ED leases or buying a car for 8-10 years. Buying one for 5 years does not make sense financially.
