 Mark Levinson vs. Logic 7

Sound system in a car is important to me. I listened to the Mark Levinson in the Lesus IS 350 and found it sort of irritating, perhaps too much mid-range and not deep enough bass, even after turning bass all the way up and treble down. I found the logic 7 in the 550 awesome by comparison. What do you think?

Hey LOPZ,

Do you live in the Dominion or Alamo Heights? I go to UTSA.

I think they are both good systems but I believe it depends on what you want from a system. Now Ive never heard Logic 7, but the ML system is one of the best you can buy.

PS - The Spurs suck just kidding

I think both are good. However, sound systems and their quality are very subjective. Some like them and some don't.

Most upgraded sound systems available in cars today meet my needs just fine. I don't care if they sound the best, just sound good when I play a CD.

I have a 2005 Lexus 430SC with the Mark Levinson system and a 2007 530XI with the logic 7 and they are probably the best two systems you will ever hear from a car manufacturer. As a former musician I would say that the acoustics by car model may vary slightly and depending on your preferred volume level one does perform different than the other. The Mark Levinson sounds great really loud but I prefer the logig 7 if you want to be able to talk to someone or hear your radar detector. So it's really subjective.

You do know that mark levinson and lexicon logic 7 are actually made/designed by same company.

I find both logic 7 and mark levinson have the same issue you mentioned. Bass are weak in both. But E60's placement of speakers and cabin design is better, hence logic 7 sounds quiet nice on the E60 and not as good as it can be on the IS350. BMW did a much better job than lexus did in implementing the system. But system itself are not much different from each other except in name only.

I had a 2003 GS430 with the ML and now have a 550 with the L7.

The imaging was better with the ML, the bass is better in the L7. I do find the bass to be almost boomy in the L7 however. Overall, I do prefer the L7, but I'm betting the ML has improved in the new GS.

As pointed out - it is very subjective.
