iPod use prior to dealer install

I am doing ED in August on a 2007 550i. My questions is will I be able to use my ipod through the AUX hookup or does that require a special install as well?

From what I have read, you will still be able to use it through your aux input. The actual install in the glovebox will be much cleaner though.

Thanks for the response. Will I need any special adapters to hook it up?

Just plug a 3.5mm (I think) into the aux input and then into the iPod headphone jack and switch your radio input to Aux and it should work. It won't recharge the iPod though.

To be clear, while on ED, you won't be able to use the iPOD interface. The car does not come with it. Once the car arrives you can pay the dealer a few hundred bucks to install the adapter. If you want to use you iPOD while on the ED trip, take an FM adapter with you.

Chuck, the 2007 550i come with the Aux input in the back of the console toward the rear seating area. You can plug your iPod into the Aux input and use your iPod. I confirmed it in a 2007 550i at my local dealer.
