I'm in the market for and '04 or '05 545i. I'm lending toward the '05, but willing to accept a very nice, low-miles '04. What are some of the nagging issues associated with either vehicle I should be aware and actually look for before purchasing? My goal is to get a CPO which will help a great deal. However, even if BMW is picking up the tab you still have to take the car there for service, which is valuable time lost. If there's something I should avoid that will almost certainly have me running back and forth to the shop, I would love to know about now. Thanks!

Depending on the build date for the 2004 - Bluetooth will not work at all - even tho the car comes with a bluetooth pairing key and instructions.
I'd check to make sure your phone works with the car first...

BMW had a "firesale" on late year '05 545i in the first half of 2006. Leases with MFs in the 0.001 area and such. Keep an eye on swapalease.com and you might find one.

No major complaints or problems, but there seem to be quite a few complaints about "rattling" coming from the door panels and sunroof. I had a problem that seemed to be computer-related, but it turned out to be only an undercharged battery. Good luck with your purchase. Here's a link to Autoweek's one-year review:

Agent99/marc545i, this is why I really like this forum. I really appreciate this info ... I'll let you know what I finally decided to do. I'm hoping to find a nice Titanium Silver in the 15-20K miles range. I love my e39, but I'm feeling the urge to move on to the new body style.
