Are dealerships really happy to ....
perform any WARRANTY repair work? i feel YES , i took my car in a couple of times , once for tire noise , NOT ASKED A SINGLE QUESTION and gave me an appointment within 2 days of my visit for replacing all 4 tires under warranty , second for fueling problems at gas pump , i explained them how it was taking me long to fill up and pump keeps on clicking and cutting as the sensor or wutever in the gas tank neck telling the pump that its filled up , though it was way tooo low , NOT a q's asked and gave me appointment for next week and ordered a new gas tank to be replaced. and why i am a lil surprised is casue of the reason that i had my tank FILLED UP when i took the car in for above mentioned problems, so definitely they cud not pour any more gas in it , and am sure , they just replacing the tank for i explained the problem , shud'nt they have checked thoroughly ? i dont hv good feelings when mechanics have to take out things and put new things in NEW car . i hv worked with mechanics and it does not matter they work at a BMW dealership or at neighborhood shop , they really dont care a lot about your NEW car , they wud put a scratch or forget to put the last SCREW ON and wud not jack up the car again to put the last screw if it really did not matter for that specific part. i hv 2 very small scratches on my wheels, while they replaced my tires, scratch is a scratch , but i hv not mentioned that to my service rep, i thoiught he wud think tooo petty of me or am just a harsh person. but still i believe it shud not happen at BMW dealerships.
any comments? regards Sak

They are not paid to diagnose things...that is what the computers are for. Speed is the key...get the cars in, slap the 'puter on 'em, replace what is says to, get the car out and the next one in. Perhaps, for your issues, they are aware of them and already know what the solution is. Often, it is easiest/quickest to simply replace things. Now as to your scratches, it is up to you how you handle those if you wish. We all have our levels of comfort and discomfort. Just yesterday, I was waiting on a lady w/kid in her arms while she attempted to get him in her car. I needed to get my kid out of my truck. She did carefully open her door but as I already know, you need it wide open when dealing with getting your kids in and out. Well, she gently put her door right into my truck door and I watched her do it (she was well aware I was right there, too). Now I knew there might be a mark but I thought it would be dent free. She immediately apologized and decided to put her kid down and close the door and let me get my kid out. I did a quick look at the door, saw the mark (it'll buff out), and told her it was fine, don't see a thing. What can I say, I was in a good mood so it didn't really bother me much. Now had she dented/dinged the door, I would have expected some remunerations for that. Even her husband was cool and asked me if I was sure it was fine. So, all in all, no biggie.

It was not a hard hit, but I knew it would leave a mark. She acted like nothing happened, and surely enough, there was a small dent with paint chipped off. I didn't say anything and just let the old couple walk away as if nothing had happened. That's the 2nd dent on my driver side, and I tho forget about it, small dent, old ppl, sigh.... As for the dealer's performing warranty work, yes, they are willing to do almost anything you ask of them since the mfg. is the one that will pay for it. If you purchased your car, keep in mind to fix every little thing you've noticed go wrong throught the first 3 years and 364th day, cuz afterward that you will have to pay for it, and it won't be cheap.
