Hey everyone,
Before I call my dealer again, is it normal for the "BMW" to stay illuminated for 1-3 minutes before going to the "Accept" screen, OR no BMW screen at all, sometimes I get in the car and it goes immediately to the accept screen with music playing.
Very different everytime I get in the car. Let me know if you understand my question.
Thx.

Thx. | Welcome to window CE based software.
Let me ask you a quick question, does your windows boot up took exact same time every time you boot it up?
That is your answer.
This is BMW designed software based on window CE OS. So this is normal.

Thx. | One of our guys in the 6er forum said something you might want to try. Try opening your car with your remote key from a distance (giving you a minute or 2 before you start the car). When you turn the car on, you will notice that the BMW screen disappears quicker than if you unlock the door and start the car inmediately. Apparently, the idrive starts working since you open the car with the remote key, not when you turn the engine on, so the more time you give it to "wake up" the better the response. It has worked for me!
I will see if I find the Thread he mentioned it at and I will post it here.

I found it:
"iDrive takes 28 seconds to boot. If you unlock your car from a distance and walk up to it, get in, and start the car, it will seem like the accept screen came on faster. This is because the computer starts booting when a door or trunk is unlocked, and not when the car is started."

To add to what has been said above, iDrive takes quite a while to totally shut down, so if, for example, you go into a store and come back out 20 minutes later, you'll find that the car doesn't have to go through the whole boot process, and your music--and the annoying lawyer screen--will start right away.

It might also depend on if you have navigation. It can take some time for any nav system to locate all the satellites it needs to work.
