I'd love to have this car but the What it gets: About 18 mpg in 400-horsepower mode, 10 mpg when kicked up to 500 hp Is not so appealing lol.

I drove one at the 6 Series Driving school. I could feel 500 horses unless I got above 100MPH. Most people will not notice a difference over a 550 unless they are going very very fast. The M5/6 do their best over 5000RPM and speeds in excess of 100MPH. The fuel consumption is a killer too.

I notice a huge difference between the current 550 and a 2002 M5, so I imagine the differences from the current model are even more pronounced. BMWs are not run of the mill cars and M5s are not run of the mill BMWs.
