 2007 bmw 530i

Thanks to all the good information provided by all the people on this forum, I have successfully ordered my 2007 bmw 530i . The dealer had an inventory slot available for production on May 23, 2006. He said I should expect to get the car by late June, early July. The dealer will call me tommorow with a lower price and I will post tommmorow. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you. Also, I ordered the SMG transmission, is their a website or something where I can learn to drive the SMG?

I have read i think ALL the different posts on bimmerfest and e60.net and there is not that good information of how to drive the SMG or learning how to drive it. They are just full of complaints, but no thread for a begginer. I might be wrong, but pleae help me.

I test drove a 545i with SMG and loved it. Just prior I was in a 330i with a manual. I have always driven manual cars until my current car which has a CVT. I am now trying to get back to a manual as fast as I can. Once I drove the SMG I found it a very good compromise between a manual and automatic. It took about 60 seconds to learn, just had to figure out which way to push the paddles. I wound up using the stick to simulate a more manual experience. My gripe with autos has always been an inability to control when it shifts. Even if the computer is smarter or more efficient I still want to control when the shift happens and the SMG allows that. Plus you get to switch to auto mode in that bumper-bumper MD/DC traffic. It’s a shame more 2004 545 owners haven’t opted (IMO) for it since mostly I see full autos, a few manuals and the occasional SMG unit for sale and 90% are black
