 I-DRIVE Climate Vent Settings

I have been attemting to use the IDrive to set up the various features in the car with success EXCEPT for one section that has me completely stumped.

In the Climate Control there is an option for Vent Settings. The Owner's Manual is pretty vague...or I am just not too bright. This Section advises that I can set the controller for driver/passenger temperature (I think maybe for the automatic mode).

I am not too sure what function(s) this setting provides? It allows me to change the temperature (red/blue) with what appears to be a increase in intensity (bars) yet is this for automatic operation? Manual operation? I just don't get it. If it is for the Auto settings, why would I be allowed to redistrbute either heat or AC.

I guess I am just rambling on...but ANY input could probably help me out. Thanx !

The way I understand it is that the AUTO button will override anything you have set in the iDrive vent settings screen. Hope this helps!

Okay, so maybe I'm making this harder than it needs to be.

So, the vent settings made from the I-Drive (airflow and Temp) will be the defaults the cars utilizes UNLESS i have activated the Auto Climate control ? Okay, I get it.*

This is correct, check the bottom left corner of nav screen and you will see your vent settings, these are now default. Once you hit auto you will have to reset your vents and temp which now should should show A A meaning max to dash,@ least this is what I make of it

You guys both have it right! Also, those vent settings are driver specific and remembered by the keys.

This is all correct except that the vent temp setting (red & blue bars) is only for the center vents and is not affected by any other setting including auto on or auto off. The vent temp will remain as you set it independent of any other settings.
