 How to remove stuck wheels?

Is there a secret to removing BMW wheels? I have removed the bolts, kicked on the wheel and still they to not budge? Am I missing something?

Lean back, butt on the floor and brace your back against something and start kicking back and forth alternating with your right/left legs on the outer edge of the tire. Just keep whomping on it hard back and forth...she'll pop free!

There is a tiny lip that the BMW wheel rests upon (aids you in holding the wheel onto the hub as you thread the bolts) and it can get stuck on the lip.

Are you removing the tires or the wheels?

If just the wheels I would use a big rubber mallet and wrap on the tires after the lug nuts are out. Sometimes surface rust will hold them tight.

If removing tire, post back and I will reply with detailed instructions.

I once had mine stuck so badly that the kick-'em hammer-'em routine didn't work. So I VERY slowly and VERY gently let the jack down until the wheel began to take up weight. That broke the seal.

Not for the faint of heart, and probably a really, really bad idea with a floor jack, but worked okay with the stock jack from the trunk. (At 10:00 at night with a 8" dump of snow predicted for the next day, I really didn't have any choice - I needed to get the winter wwheels and tires on RIGHT NOW).

Does this also apply to run-flats? I had the same problem ealier this year when I wanted to add spacers. Rather than pay someone thirty bones, I decided to do it myself ( I have done before on my G35 and CLK with no problems). For the life of me, I couldn't get the frickin' front wheel off the hub!!!

Given, I didn't kick the thing as I assumed (don't you say it!) a $60K car wouldn't take well to that type of elbow grease. I read the manual and it said something about a special kit needed to remove run-flats. Not sure if the kit is needed to remove tire from wheel or wheet from hub?

Any advice?

Run-flats need special treatment to remove tire from wheel. Otherwise no different than any other tire to remove from wheel from hub, except for weight. RFT are very heavy.
