I'm looking to take over a lease on a 5 series. When going out to look at the cars, how can I tell if they have the Sport Package? Specifically, I'm going out tommorrow to look at some guy's 2004 545. Is there any easy visual cue to tell if the car has the sport package? How about the upgraded sound system, is there a visual way to tell if it has it? The guy said it's fully loaded but he doesn't know about specific options.

Ask to see the original window sticker.

If it has black shadow trim (side window moldings) instead of chrome then it has the Sport Package.

You could easily find out by looking at the wheels/tires: standard 545 comes with 17-inch wheels and 225 50/R17 tires, sports package relaces them with 18-in wheels and 245 40/R18 front and 275 35/R18 tires. Also by wheel styles.
SP: bigger wheels and thinner tires.

They can also buy the OEM Style 124 wheels and tires that is standard equipment with the Sport Package. In addition, they can lower the car with springs. So, theoretically, a Non-sport package can be modded to resemble a sport package model. All this information is most likely irrelevent since you are taking over a lease. I'm sure the original leasee would not mod the car out and then let it go. It's money out the window for him. I think 5 Rakete has the best answer, just check out if the car has shadow line trim.
