Voluntary Emissions Recall on 2006 525 & 530's
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18819 Quote: Anyone get this letter?:
BMW Voluntary Emissions Recall Campaign to Reprogram DME for OBD Diagnostic ON N52 Engines
Campaign Number: 06E-A01
It goes on to say:
BMW has determined that certain 2006 model year 325i/iA/xi/xiA/xiTA, 330i/iA/xi/xiA, 525i/iA/xi/xiA and 530i/iA/xi/xiA/xiTA BMW automobiles, with six cylinder engines, may not fully meet the US EPA and California Air Resources Board emissions control requirements. BMW is conducting a Voluntary Emissions Recall Campaign.
The problem is... Your 2006 model year incoporates faulty DME controle module software that may not correctly detect a pontential emission relevant sensor failure. As a result, the vehicle's emissions may exceed the mandated limits without the normal warning ("Service Engine Soon") to the consumer.
The complete reprogramming may take up to approxmately one day. If you live in a State with SMOG Check Program, your vehicle must pass an emissions test, as required by state law. Without having this Recall performed, your vehicle may be more likely to fail this test. | | | Reply » Voluntary Emissions Recall on 2006 525 & 530's | Got this in the mail just a few days ago.....
