 BMW dealerships

Well, I was looking at dealerrater.com and was searched about 10 BMW dealerships in the region, and seems the best rated was Brecht BMW with a 3.8 i think, all others had like 1's and 2's...so just wondering, why are all (or most) of the BMW dealerships so bad? it would seem if there was one dealership who was trying to make everyone happy and have intelligent people who were tested on knowledge or something they would corner the market...so just wondering, well maybe it has to do with something that more people usually complain online then actualyl write positives?

It's possible people that had an average, good but not spentacular, or uneventful experience with the dealership don't bother to rate it.

The real question is who is dealerrater? I just checked it out because of your post and found dealerships that have'nt been in business for years. Most of the dealerships rated had a handful of responses; not a very broad sampling. It seems like a site people find to rant on when they have a problem.

You want to find out about any business do it the old fashioned way, BBB, Chamber of Commerce, other customers. This information will be worth much more than the responses by unknown and unseen people on the internet.

I do think people tend to be motivated to write reviews when they have something to rant about more than they do when they have a good experience, but it does seem the dealerships are far less successful in keeping a loyal clientele than independent shops. I've seen people on here rave about a place called Taylor-something in the inland empire, Bullet in north/central OC, and I LOVE my indy shop in Laguna Niguel. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else unless I absolutely had to for something covered under warranty or a recall. They've actually made me want to keep buying BMW's because I fear buying any other kind of car and having to find a new place I can trust. If just one dealership in So. CA could match that kind of sentiment in their customers and charge honest prices, they'd have people drive far out of their way to go there rather. Instead, most people avoid dealerships like the plague.

Exactly. The BMW dealer,JMK in Springfield,N.J.Has been excellent in sales ,sevice and body shop with out one complaint in any of the three areas in the 3 1/2 years I've been going to them.Thats the reason I always talk good about them and the main reason I stay with BMW's,I'm afraid to buy any other car because of changing dealers. You don't find dealers like them very often.
Before going to JMK I used Open Road and they just went down the tubes in sales and service
No I don't work for JMK just a very satisfied customer.
cheers

Well, if I ever move to New Jersey, I know where to go! To be fair, I've been to Irvine BMW for service and didn't have any problems. The people seem knowledgeable and everyone is always very friendly, but my indy shop always goes above and beyond the call of duty - for less $.
