Cell Phone Parts Needed - Am I Being Ripped Off?

I just took possession of my 2007 525i and I wanted to add the cell phone phone cradle for the car because it takes advantage of the external antenna and provides power to the phone. I already have the Bluetooth interface/directory working in the car. So after purchasing a new Motorola E815 and paying the $140 as advertised on the BMW (corporate site) for the cellular phone cradle/adapter, I go to my friendly BMW dealer for the installation. The salesman had ordered the part for me and said that he could put it in as he'd done it before.

After fooling around inside of the car, the salesman goes and gets a technican who starts to work on the thing. The technician says that there is a part missing so the Parts Manager gets involved. He confirms that a part is missing and that it is an additional $145. He also pulls the order for my car which says that it has the "Complete Cellular Preparation Package" included. So I'm asking myself why after spending $79 for a new phone and $140 for the BMW specified part, why am I being asked to spend another $145. The Parts Manager is not real helpful when he says that BMW stands for Bring Money Withyou!

The salesman then took me to the General Manager who promised to research the problem and get back with me soon. Has anyone had a similar experience?

BMW dealership called today and advised that they would order all of the parts necessary for the telephone system at no additional charge.

I am satisfied; however, would encourage anyone contemplating the purchase of the phone cradle, etc. to ensure that all parts and all costs are known up front before ordering the telephone interface.

Earlier I reported that my dealer had ordered the companion parts for the cellular telephone after ordering the one part for $140 thinking that no other parts were need. You may recall that they even agreed to pay for them and install it for free. Last Saturday, I got to the dealership at 8:00AM for the install only to have the service guy tell me that two more parts costing an additional $155 were needed for the installation. Based upon the parts, it seems that to install a Motorola E815, four separate parts costing around $450 are needed not including installation costs. I continue to be confused by the need to buy so many parts for a car that comes equipped with a cellular installation preparation package.

It will be next weekend before the saga can continue as I'll be out of town again all week. I'll be sure and provide an update to the continuing saga of installation the $140 BWM phone adapter (said with tongue-in-cheek)

you need 3 parts

the snap in adapter
the eject box
the telephone support

all about $300 with tax.

Install is about 10mins if you are handy or 20 if not
