07 530i rough idle when cold?

I have had my 07 530i since Tuesday, and I notice that it has a rough idle after starting when cold. I was wondering if any other 530 owners experience this. Another thing that I noticed today was the rpm redline changing from 7k to 6500 rpm, while letting the engine warm up at an idle for about 10 minutes. The Temperature outside has ranged from high forties to high fifties. I am thinking that it might have a bad knock sensor? That should set of a check engine code though.

My 550 idles rough for about 15-30 seconds, but not everytime I start it. Dealer checked everything and said the idle is completely normal and passed some kind of diagnostic they ran. From what I am reading here it seems that would be true....who knows.

Different engines (V8 vs I6) - different issues...

The red line on a 530i does not move. It stays at 6500 RPM. However, your "orange line" (White actually) move as low as 4200 RPM on a cold start then gradually moves towards the red line as the engine oil warms up.

Thanks.
I just started it now and it dropped to 6k I drove it around a little and it went to 6800 rpm. It idles @ 1100 rpm for about 30 secs and drops to 600 rpm which is normal, but the engine feels rough until it is driven a couple miles. Also there is increased noise until driven a couple of miles. Sounds like a low geared differental. I live on the side of a valley, so I have to go up a hill for about a mile when leaving. It may be the increased load caused by the road grade.

I have a 550i, and I had the exact same thing . . .immediately upon ignition the engine would sputter and be rough for the first few seconds. I took it to the dealer, and they upgraded the CIP software. It idles much smoother; however, when I start it, and immediately put it in reverse to back out of the garage, the car is jerky in reverse. It only happens when I push the button and then immediately put it in reverse and back out.

Dealer says the engine is normal . . .If I wait 20 seconds . . .no jerkiness . . . who knows . . .
