Okay guys, I am a little . Can someone explain the difference between the MY06 and the MY07 tire monitoring system and how the system works? Does MY07 actually have hardware on the wheel to monitor the pressure now? Thanks in advance for all the help and responses. You guys are GREAT. |

I understood it to actually give PSI readouts per wheel versus just measuring a change in rotation circumference. I cannot confirm this.

Go to http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/5/525...iversguide.htm
Click on Technology for Comfort..... Then Flat tire Warning.
Not sure if this is what your looking for maybe.

I thought the 2007 models had something different. Hmmm.

The NHTSA is mandating individual sensors on each wheel. The system is being changed out on BMWs, the web site has not been updated yet. Not sure how the models will get this feature phased in. I read that the sensors will be attached to each wheel.

The MY06 Flat Tire Monitor operates on differential in wheel speed of low air pressure tire from that of other tires. It does not sense tire air pressure. The MY07 system detects air pressure, but does not display actual tire air pressure. It notifies driver if a tire's pressure drops by 25% - a rather huge amount. This apparently meets NHSTA requirements, which appear to be one small step above nothing.
