I'm new to the whole BMW ownership thing (bought one Saturday). I've read posts about I-drive software upgrades. Should I make sure my dealer has a specific version of software on the car? I bought a 2005 525i. Is updating this software something that BMW service centers do on a regular basis?

If you bought from a dealer, it most likely has been updated. No way to tell which version you have without speaking with the dealer.
