thanks for the few of you that replied to my other topic........anyway....... planning on getting 07 530i .......automatic steptronic, sports and premium package..... what do you guys think of the premium sound package? is there a big difference in sound quality between the logic 7 sound system and the basic sound system that comes with the car? if i decided to pass on the premium sound package and go with an aftermarket sound system, will that void my 4 year/50k mile warrenty should any electrical problems occur? thanks for the help guys!!!

Get it. This is apple to oranges but my X5 does not have premium sound. The difference is pretty amazing. Plus BMW's are a challenge to upgrade with after market solution if you determine you want more sound.

I'm an electrical engineer with 30 years experience in the telcom industry and I have been an audio fanatic for longer than that. I installed a $2000 system on my previous car - a 1998 Avalon . It had great flexibility for setting levels frequency response, etc. It even had a microphone that would allow automatic adjusting of the audio parameters. I had a dedicated subwoofer with it's own 200W RMS amplifier.
The BMW system is far superior! It has clean bass without being boomy and absolutely crystal clear highs. The BMW system also integrates well with iDrive. Unless you are going to spend more than $10,000 for an after market system that probably will void your warranty, stick with the BMW Premium Sound Package.
You'll be happy with the BMW sound
I do wish there were a few additional features such as separate level control for each source or at least an audio level indication. I MISS MY XM RADIO! Sirius does not have the selection that XM has.

I'm new to satellite radio . . .I have Sirius in my 06 550i, and I listen to XM on the internet while at work . . .
I think XM is sooooooo much better than Sirius. Actually, I think Sirius sucks. It's all hyped because of Howard Stern (who also sucks). XM is so much better.
Most automakers either offer XM or a choice of either system. Only Benz & BMW offer Sirius exclusively.

Just picked mine up on Thursday. Really nice sound system.
