 Located a 2007 530i and...

I want to know if the price is decent from everyone that is experienced.

Also the problem is I can't purchase the car until around June 29th since the car I have currently is under my parents name and I am the co-signer and I got less than 15k to pay it off so I am not in authorization to trade it in

I have been communicating with a dealer near my hometown (where my parents live, AL) I live in NJ, because I will be visiting them for the 4th of July week. That is when I plan to purchase the car since my parents have to be present to trade it in for me.

Anyway I requested the dealer that I am looking for a 525i or a 530i black exterior paint, 6 speed transmission, Navigation, Xenon Lights, and cold weather package.

He wrote this :

XXXX,

I did a little research just to give you a feeler of what's out there right now, and located only 1 vehicle with all the options you are looking for. It's a Titanium silver metallic '07 530i, 6 speed manual transmission, black leather, with Navigation, Xenon, and cold weather package like you wanted, and also has premium package, sport package, active steer, and HD sattelite radio.
This particular car lists at $55,500.

He asked me if I wanted to do an order on a specific car and I told him since I can not be at his location until the time of purchase he wrote this:

XXXX,

Everything is negotiable to some degree, but please keep in mind that BMW has the LOWEST markup on their vehicles compared to any manufacturer out there, which doesn't leave a whole lot of room for negotiating.

I am almost 100% sure that you would have to be present to order your vehicle, but let me ask around and see if there is any other way.

Also, as for the 6 speed being standard, most owners of high end luxury sedans, such as the 5-series, seem to prefer the automatic and therefore most are equipped as so.

As far as the horsepower difference in the 2 cars, the 40 HP gain in the 530i is definitely noticeable. The power has a very sophisticated feel to its delivery and is very manageable. I don't think you would be disappointed in either cars power, but if power is a big factor for you, the 530i is the car for you.

I'll let you know soon what I find out about ordering and what our options are.

So basically I am just looking for an advise on what my options are or the only way I can purchase a car due to my situation is go tot he dealer when I arrive to my parents and hope that there is a 525i or a 530i with the options I want. Hell, I am also considering the 6-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes and Adaptive since manual Transmissions are SOOOOo rare.

Thanks for any input.

A couple of things. This dealer is talking crap about BMW having the lowest markup in the industry. Their margin is comparable to most car manufacturers in the world and currently stand at ~9%. I would avoid this dealer if I were you. Second, I think you should order the car as you want it to be, instead of settling for one with a different engine and added options. I kind of have a feeling that the dealer you talked to here is just trying to make some extra money off you by telling you how much better the 530i id going to be, but they fail to mention the extra $10K associated with the car.

If you can't pick up the car until June 29, you best option is to order the car soon, and the 6-8 weeks it takes for the car to get to the dealer will fall right around your timeline. I hope this helps.

First of all, you can overnight the forms to your parents, and they can sign it front of a notary. So the lack of a physical presence of your parents should not be an issue.

One fun of buying a BMW is that you can order the exact car you want with the color, options and what not.

Since you have some time, have you considered European Delivery. You will easily save 10% of the MSRP. You finance through BMWFS, keeping the trade in out of the picture during the initial paper work, and trade the car in when you do the redelivery. That way you will need the equity in the current car to close the deal. Also once you get the equity back, you can payoff your original BMWFS or refi it with someone else with a better rate.

In general you are better off selling your car yourself rather than trading it in.
