550i vs E55
Yeah, I know - these 2 cars aren't comparable but I am in the market for both. Either a new 06 or 07 550i or used '04 or '05 E55. (budget of under $70k). I like the fact that I am getting a brand new car but I also prefer knowing that you are driving a faster, more "exotic/exclusive" car as an E55. I have driven both and no questions asked E55 is violently fast but handling wise I choose 550 any day. The braking on 550 and overall steering feel is amazing.

I like the E60 bodystyle better. I presume you meant 2003 and prior M5. THe new M5 would be my dream but too expensive for me.

The E60 M5 is what wet dreams are made of. Don't make the mistake of driving one 'cause it'll be like you're hooked on drugs and you will do anything to get your high! I have a buddy going through this right now...he is calling his 2003 M5 a POS now!

I had a '03 E55, and have had my '05 545i for a little over a year (not a 550i, but close enough). I sold the E55 after 4 months. Hated it. Scarey fast in a straight line, but terrible handling, numb steering and horrible brakes. I did like the interior styling & quality, and exterior styling, of the E55. I enjoy driving my 545i so much more.

Stream - you are absolutelly right - I thought the brakes were god awful to relative to BMW. I thought it was just the particular car I was driving...
