surcharge for non-offical colors???
My dealer claims there is a $2000+/- charge to do a non-offical color combo - titanium grey / auburn (feel free to tell me it would look good/bad) anybody had this experience ? i thought it was more an issue of convincing the dealer you would take the car.
| | Reply » surcharge for non-offical colors??? | Find another dealer. Here is the skinny: as long as the colors are available in the US, you can have ANY combo of colors that you want. All you need is a dealer willing to order it for you. You *might* find some resistance in California due to the protections put in place by the state of California for your own good: namely, ordering a car in CA is not a binding contract. In other words, the money you put down to order a car is 100% FULLY REFUNDABLE. So this means that the dealer ordering the car wants to be sure he can sell it (to you or someone else) so he most likely won't order a "bizarre" color combination in case you bail at the end having decided it was a huge mistake to order the colors you did. Now he is stuck with a weird car that he may have to sell at a severe discount thus losing money on. You might have better luck ordering a car in Oregon, Nevada, or maybe even Arizona although I can only atest to the fact that Oregon has no such law. When I ordered my 2001 530i (see my sig, very, very rare color combo there!), I had to put 10k down non-refundable! If you need to leave the state, I have an good dealer in Oregon who will help you out. PM me. Oh, I like your color combo although Ti-Ag bores me to death...personally, I want Amethyst Grey with Auburn but wifey says ...she wants Monaco Blue with Auburn.
