0 MPH. DSC completely off. Pavement even and dry. 1st gear...
I floor the gas, but can never seem to be able to spin the wheels in this car. Why is it that it's hard to spin the wheels in this car when it can be done in other makes and models?

Well, it is your car....but since you asked
Level surface. Foot on clutch, car in first. Both hands on wheel, 10 & 2 or 9 & 3 (your pref). Rev to around 3000 Slide foot off clutch - this should spin the tires...

Thanks for the procedure... but my main concern is that since the wheels don't spin upon flooring the gas, doesn't that mean that there's an initial loss of power?

There's nothing wrong with your car.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but your car is S-L-O-W. The 525 / step is no pavement peeler. Quite honestly, it's not meant to be.
Enjoy your car for what it's about....balanced handling.

It's about the torque. The BMW inline-6's are NOT known for their torque. That's why they're introducing the 3.0 twin turbo inline 6 because they need to keep up with the competition.
The 525i is not a high performance machine, but a sophisticated sporting luxury car with great feel and handling.
You can't tell me you really expected this thing to do donuts in the parking lot??!!
