Talked with an insider today that told me the E60 M aero package will be offered in the US as a "Port installed" option (installed at the VPC) $3000 is the ballpark figure he gave me. Definately available for the 2007 model year but maybe sooner. Sorry if this is old news but he heard it in a meeting yesterday.

It may already be available through your local retailer parts department. (I am not sure about availability in the US) We have done three or four vehicles at the dealer level already. Looks great!
Let me know if you want part #'s

If that's true, it's going to be a lot of installation work, since the "M Sport" package also includes different wheels, suspension, interior trim and sport steering wheel, not to mention the exterior parts.

Maybe it's not the "M Sport" package but the "M Aero" package as it was called in the original post. If it's just the bumper and other body related parts and BMW pre-paints them it would be a fairly easy swap all things considered. Seems odd for it to be a VPC/VDC activity. Are there any other "options" or accessories that are installed there instead of by the dealer? None that I know of.

Wheels are the same as the stock configuration that you order, and there are no interior or mechanical mods.
It's available NOW (meaning on remaining 2005 545 models at the VPC and all incoming 2006 models).
