What are some of the most popular choices for exterior and interior colors on 5 series sedans?
I personally like silver with black interior on other cars, but on a 5 series I think silver blends with the light color of the front lights and the feline light and so the car doesn't look distinctive. Any thoughts on this?
On a 5 series, I like black exterior and for interior I think black is a good choice since it is easier to maintain. Here in Northwest, it rains a lot so lighter interior colors get dirty with the rain. And it doesn't get too hot in summer, so black seats making the car a toaster in the sun is not an issue.
Has anyone tried a black on black combination? Does it look very homogenous and thus less appealing?

I can honestly say, I've never seen this car look bad in any color (well there is that one M5 color that sort of looks like dirt - but that's just my opinion).
Make sure you look at the colors in the daytime however, because night and dusk look totally different - especially on colors like Monaco Blue! My two favorites are Monaco Blue on Black and Titanium Gray on Black.
Black is probably the most popular with Sliver Gray a close second and Titanium Silver being third and falling. If you see the car on the street in White or Mystic Blue, it will turn your head - very rare colors but both are beautiful (I think the Mystic looks best with the M Aero kit.
Just my thoughts however!

i studied colors very carefully and chose titanium grey. basically, i feel in my own humble opinion-that bmws look best in silvers and greys. notice that most ads shows the cars in these colors. having just come from an audi in silver, i wanted a change. silver grey is nice but i felt titanium grey made the 530 xi t wagon look more aggressive. also, i was intent on having a biege interior. i know black is popular as an interior but it is just too drak for me. the bmw grey interior is very ugly. the darker greay ext (titanium) is the only grey that works with beige leather. black exterior looks fabulous if yu can manage to keep it clean. i do also like the monaco blue. it is very sharp. i think between blaack sappire and moncao blue i would choose the blue. titanium silver is great but overdone and a bit boring at this point...my two cents

out of 10 e60s on LA street
6 silver or gray 2 black 1 blue 1 white (my choice)
if you're aiming to be UNIQUE, you can get the green , I think I've only seen ONE green e60 on LA streets, however, you might NOT turn any heads cuz that color, i think green bmws are ugly =/ (my 2cents)

We have jet black/with black interior...
the dealer we used in grand blanc, michigan had to locate one for us out of state. OUR car originates from a dealer in New Jersey HE said this color combo was one of 5 cars east of california...
not sure how much truth is in that..but whatever.

Amethyst Grey is the most rare of E60 colors right now. I know this because my wife and I cannot find one in the Bay Area to go look at. The dealers simply don't order that color very much. Chalk up that we are in the middle of a MY change and the supply for color variations is at its worse. We hope to see this color in person in several weeks. I have to place my ED order in June some time so I've got time, but no patience!
