Picked up my vehicle today and was surprised to see that it had a spare tire in the trunk. The tires a Continental conti-touring-contact. I thought that it was supposed to have run flats. I didn't see conti seal on the tire or a RF. I checked the idrive to make sure it had the tire pressure monitor, and it was there. I am glad that I didn't get the run flats and am very happy that I got a spare. The car drives great. Just have to get past this break-in period. I also didn't think that it was supposed to have a three spoke steering wheel.  |

I think the run flats come only with the Sports Package... someone correct me if I'm wrong. My 530i has them while my 525i does not.

You only get runflats and the sports steerring wheel if you order the Sports Package. By looking at your picture, you do not have the sports package. Also, all American BMWs comes with the small spare tire.

My salesman had told me that in Midle of 06 production they went to the runflats on all the 5series and didn't have a spare except with the sports package. He further told me that is why they added the TPS monitor for 07. I didn't know if someone screwed up at the factory? I am glad however that I didn't get the runflats with all of the associated problems they seem to have. Tire technolgy has gotten pretty good in the past couple of years. Most sidewalls on the 55 series and lower tires are pretty stiff and will hold up long enough to slow down in the event of a blow out.
As far as the sport package goes. I figured, that I can get some H&R springs, HR sway bars, and some koni struts. Cost about 1600 handling probably better than the sports package that BMW offers. Braking will/ should be better with the 17,s (less rotational inerta on the wheel).
