What is done durring dealer prep?

What does the dealer do when the vehicle arives? My car arived at the dealer yesterday and I was told that it will not be ready until Tuesday. The only thing I can imagine them doing is pulling the plastic off of the seats and washing it. I was told that they had to do some programing? Seems like B.S. I would think that it would be ready to go from the factory. When I saw it I wanted to jump in and take it home. This bites. A beautifull weekend here in Germany, and my new car is sitting in the dealership.

I was called early in the AM on 4/6 and told by my the salesman that the car had just arrived and unloaded from the truck. He said that they could have it ready by the evening if I wanted it. Unfortunately, I was out of town and could not take delivery until 4/7.

There is a long list of things that they say that check (who knows what they really do). You have to sign that you received a copy of the list. They can also handle your preferences during this time like activating the daytime running lights if you want them (I did). They also offered to set-up my BlueTooth interface, activate the BMW assist, and SIRIUS.

I was also told that there are things in the suspension used during transportation that must be removed. And as you noted, the plastic has to be removed and the car washed and detailed. With all that said, I'm at a loss as to why you have to wait until Tuesday to pick up the car.

Which dealer in Germany did you buy your car from? I want to make sure I am prepared for this when it is my turn to pick mine up.

I purchased it through Capitol Motors @ Spangdahlem. It was sent to the German BMW dealership in Bitburg (Schaal), and they are the ones doing the prep.

I thought Capitol Motors sold Volvos, Jags and Land Rovers. Aren't they part of the Capitol Motors in K-town?

I Would think that they would be associated with one another. All I have noticed them selling here at Spang is BMW and Volvo. In K-town Pentagon car sales handles BMW also in Mainz Kastel Pentagon handles BMW. They all have the same pricing. I contacted Pentagon and they were not able to give me a better price. They have to be making a little something out of it that they could work with? Maybe it so little that it isn't worth the hastle?
