How much for the '07 525i/530i order over invoice??

hi there..

ive been searching for a new 5 series..at first, thought about doing an ED. Than, I jumped to thinking about buying a preowned..but so many are telling me the '07 are worth the wait..so what is everyone paying for their new oders??

any input would definetly be appreciated! if i go and order a new '07, i would be leasing, but if i found a newer 5 series like '04-'06 for a good deal, i'll grab it..

so what is everyone paying for their new orders? how much over invoice...and which dealers in cali would anyone recommend?? i dont mind driving..or even having the car shipped.

thanks

lisa

I can't imagine that you could get ahead by buying the car from a distant dealer and having it shipped. By the time you paid for the shipping, and the aggrevation of dealing with any damage that occurred during shipping, your savings would be eatten up.

In general across the board I've noticed that people seem to think that about $1500 over invoice is a fair deal for both the buyer and the dealer for a new car out of their allocation. It seems that some dealers will not let them go that cheaply without a LOT of effort from the buyer.

If you are going to lease, read all the threads about how to work that transaction, as there are many more variables that effect your cost besides the cost of the car itself. It's all here in the leasing threads.

I just got my '06 530i a month ago for $1000 over invoice, .0014 MF, and 61% residual from Irvine BMW. Check out the leasing threads for more info; you'll find tons of useful stuff there.

My neighbor Howard works there a sales manager, and I still had to wheel and deal with him for a few days to get that deal. I swear, car salesmen are all the same, and he refused to go lower on the invoice even though I've known him for about 5 years. Go figure.

Here's my honest opinion:
Every car salesman wants to get as much as they can off of you. My neighbor is no different. I caught him in a lie several times in our negotiations. I got a decent deal on my old 3 series 3 yrs back, and I sent my co-worker in to get a similar deal, and my friend ended up buying from Crevier in Santa Ana bc he got fed up with his run-around.

So long story short, as long as you know what you're talking about, you can get at least a decent deal from him. I keep going back to him bc he always offers me a decent start off price point for negotiations. With him, he always gets me the car I want relatively quick as well. I dont understand all these people placing orders now for September delivery, or even having to wait 2 months to get the options they want.

Bottom line, knowledge is power, and he's not too bad. Always put the sales guy on the spot and straight up ask him how much he wants over invoice, just like how they always ask you that stupid question "how much do you want to spend a month?"

It just irks me that he lives next to me yet he still tries to get just a little bit more from me, and I know how to negotiate a lease too. I feel bad for people going to buy a car who have no real idea on how to lease.

Here's what he offered me initially:

$1300 above invoice
.0015 MF
59% residual

So even if i took that, it wouldnt have been tooo bad. Keep in mind that the '07 530i costs a little bit more, and may have different rates.

Kind of confused here....I thought the residual is a set percentage for no. of mos/mileage
and it's not negotiable . Did you change the number of allowed miles (i.e., 15k/yr to
12k/yr) for the residual to change from 59% to 61%?
