Re-on the wipers
Is it just me, or does everyone have to re-on the wipers when you start the car?
If this is normal, I guess I understand the object. Suppose you stop with wipers on, and it's not raining when you re-start, the wipers won't drag across a dry windshield. BUT... if that's what BMW wants to accomplish, they should have the wipers return to off position when you key off. Right?
| | Reply » Re-on the wipers | Something must not be set correctly on your wiper switch. Not sure what, but mine doesn't do that. Read the manual and see where the settings need to be. I would for you but I am nowhere near my car at the moment.
| | Reply » Re-on the wipers | Hmmm.... you know, I actually NEVER turn my wipers on. I always use the "auto" button. I never thought about it until your post, but "auto" works very well and never leaves the wipers in "mid-wipe". (...which sounds a bit disgusting, actually...)
| | Reply » Re-on the wipers | Some confusion here: If you move your wipers into the auto-sense mode, this needs reinitialized each time you turn off the car and restart. If you move your wipers into either the slow or fast mode (not auto-sense mode), and then shut the car off, you are saying they do not work and that you must reinitialize them?
| | Reply » Re-on the wipers | I understand having to reactivate the "auto" feature (I guess).
To clarify, if the wipers are straight "on" (low or high, by clicking the wand up) and I turn off the ignition (mid-wipe LOL!), the wiper stays in position on the windshield and will not move again when I re-start the car -- unless I re-on the wipers. This applies to the front and rear wiper.
| | Reply » Re-on the wipers | Ah, okay. Then, "yes" I agree with you...the wipers should reset to their resting position. Kind of like when you turn the car off and forget to roll up a window. As long as no one has opened a door, the windows still have power. The same could be done for a wiper reset, it seems.
