This weekend, my 550i started to give a warning of " Increased Emmissions" and the "Service Engine" light came on. Anyone experienced this before?.
I only have 3000 miles on the car. Also, before the warning started, it kept coming up that my gas cap is not tightened, but whenever I checked it, it seemed to be tight.

Folks, please visit your dealer and get your car diagnosed! I'd hate for something bad to happen while the light was on. You could be storing lots of other codes since the first one was ignored. Other than the hassles of spending time to arrange an appointment and taking the car in, it is basically free for you under the BMW warranty plan.

I dropped off my car at the dealer to look at the problem. What I thought to be a day's fix has now turned into 4 days at the dealer.... Apparently they first replaced the gas cap which they claimed was faulty. After resetting the codes, the error message remained. Now they claim it is a "Large Leak" and BMW has sent them some tool to trace the leak. Seems to be a bigger issue than they thought.
Need to talk to the Service Tech on Monday. Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem.
