Is it just me, or is this car the most under-reported BMW ever!!!
I'm amazed that the major car magazines have not had any type of test on the 550i. Yeah, they covered the 545i, but they never gave the 550i a write-up. I'm surprised since BMW's are the sweethearts of the enthusiast magazine. Also, since most car magazines unfairly bemoaned active steering, I'd think they would be interested to retest the car with more power and without active steering!!

Years ago... I ordered one of the very first 330i's in 2001. At the time, we had E46 323i and 328i models. Everyone just lumped the 330i with the 328i and never reviewed it. I remember how frustrating that was!
Most auto mags see the 550i as just a slightly more powerful 545i - not enough to justify another full review.
We can hope that they do a comparison soon of the 550i vs. Mercedes and Audi... or something like that.

Read the 545i reviews and then imagine the reviews with a bit more horsepower and torque!!

No reviews on the 650, 750 either. Just a minor engine tweak.
The E60, E90, E63 have all been covered regardless of options/tweaks. You won't see any review until a body change.

Heck the 530 has not gotten a decent review that I can find with the bigger motor (255hp).
A brief mention yes, but comparison test, nada.
But then my new Car & Driver arrives today with a writeup of the coming E90 335ic.
WOW. 300+ hp in an E90. That engine would be (and will be) killer in the E60 (only 55 lbs heavier).
Whew, glad I am only doing a 24 mos lease! Next time, 535i6!
