Just turned in my '03 540 Sport. The 550 is quicker and more comfortable. The handling is incredible compared to other cars (I also have an '04 Z06, I'm not a stranger to a spirited drive). I love the active steering.
I do have a few non performance related complaints.
Navigation - WAY behind the technology that's available. No night mode, you can't enter a phone number to find location, and you loose street names when you're in 3D mode.
Comfort Access - I have to press the button 2 times to shut the stereo off.
Head Lights - I want the ngel Eyes to be my DRL's, and turn on/off automatically.
Lazy Man Seat - Not a technical term, but why doesn't the seat move back when the car is shut off to make it easier to get out?

I wonder why BMW charges gas guzzler tax with a manual on 550i, but not with auto? Aren't manuals supposed to be more gas efficient?
Also can someone comment on, what would be a good estimate for highway and city numbers with auto?

Acura's nav is the best. Easy to use, large display, voice activated. Audi's sucks, bmw sucks and so does MB;s. Lincons also is not good. Acura is the best. Infact, it they made the TL RW, instead of FW drive, it would be better then the 330
