Moonroof issue
Hey all, I've seen a lot of great information on this site and am hoping someone out there knows something I don't about the residual power. With CA, after parking the car and hitting the start/stop button one time to shut off the engine, the windows will still operate allowing you to close them. My question is why this same feature doesnt exist for the moonroof. With the beautiful Carolina weather here, I usually drive with windows and roof open. It is tedious and cumbersome to have to wait for the moonroof to close before shutting off the engine. Any insight? | | Reply » Moonroof issue | I also find this quirk to be a minor annoyance, with no solution other than to plan ahead, which I do not always do!

With CA, you can close the moonroof, shade, as well as the windows, by maintaining contact when you lock the car from the outside. Touch the handle to lock, then keep your finger there, or if you break contact, just touch the "locking" area again and hold.
You still have to wait (outside the car, instead of inside), but it is fun to watch!!

BMW clearly found this to be a common practice to have invested in residual power technology to begin with. But why would the technology only allow the windows to have residual power and NOT the moonroof. If we followed your logic, why have residual power at all? Follow?

Everyone buys a new car and then begin to complain beause it is not as good as the old version they owned or it is not as good as another make. It seem like the more technically advances our cars come the more complaining we do. Maybe we should go back to manual everything so we can learn to appreciate the advances we have. Everyone talks about how great the 5er is but at the same time we drag it name in the mud. Are we going to ever be satisfied with any new model? I guess this is a never ending cycle.
