550i vs GS 430
I am a 4 time Lexus GS 430 (well, the first 2 were 400) buyer. I just ordered a 550i. I never thought I would buy anything, but Lexus. After test driving the 550i, I fell in love. I cannot believe that I drove a Lexus since 93  I will admit though, that I do like the interiors of the Lexus much better, but I will get used to the Bimmer as well. | | Reply » 550i vs GS 430 |
I test drove the GS300AWD and it did not even get close to comparing to the 530xi I ordered. I was extremely disappointed in the GS - too tight, too noisy and no trunk room.

The 550i is an amazing car. I am sure you'll have no problem with the interior because you'll be too busy looking for the next twisty road to take on!

The Lexus GS450h would make me do a double take...
BMWNA should bring the 535d here and/or BMWAG should produce a 545d and let BMWNA unleash it in the good ole USA!

I went from a 2000 540ia with sports package to a 2003 GS430. I was miserable for 39 months. I tried to get out of my lease but it was always a $10K hit.
Now I'm back in a 550 and I LOVE IT. I can't believe how much fun it is to drive a car again. I got the comfort seats and they are by far the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in.
My heated seats are hot almost instantly and the heated steering wheel is so superior to the wood steering wheel in the GS (someone explain to me why you make a steering wheel out of polished wood please? It is like putting Armor All on your brake pedal - it makes it look better but is completely dysfunctional). The HVAC is warm so much quicker than the GS as well.
I will admit however, the Lexus had a better NAV system and I could reach the 6 disc CD changer vs. the rumor of a 6 disc CD changer that I'm told is somewhere near the back of my glove box. The Logic 7 system is a bit boomy as well. I do also like the look (both inside and out) of the new GS better.
I'm so happy to be back in a BMW.

too noisy? not sure i've *ever* heard that complaint about a lexus before.
