 5 Series big enough?

Can anyone comment on whether the E60 5 series backseat is large enough to fit 3 child seats? One child is in the stage 2 convertible (forward or rear facing) similar to:

and 2 are in the stage 3 similar to:

When I was checking out the car and wanted to see how comgortable the rear seat were, I sat 3 average size adults. By average, I mean me 5'9 180, my wife 5'9 135 and my son 6'2 155. We were fine so I really don't think you should have a problem. Care seats are not as wide as the adult body.

No, you are not going to get three child seats in the back of the car in a safe manner. I currently have a Britax infant seat and a fairly compact Graco booster in my car. The space between the two of them is approximately ten inches wide, which is smaller than any child seat I have seen.

The problem is that the BMW is designed to be a sports sedan first, and not a family hauler. The back seat has relatively deep buckets, so when you install the child seats in the outboard positions, you end up with about six inches of wasted space between the door and the child seat. Bottom line is this - if you want three child seats across, you will need to buy an SUV or a minivan, as those vehicles normally have flat benches for the back seats which can handle the three across.

Trust me on this one, I have expended a lot of effort trying to get three across in the back seat, in the end concluding it was impossible.

Two Britax was all I could fit safely in a 550 that I test drove over a weekend.
My wife could get between the two if needed, but another seat would not have fit.

Guess you might want to start looking at the 530it. You want have any problems fitting everyone in the 530it.

Cool, thanks guys. That was my first concern in the way they designed the seats with the deep bolsters. Sounds like a no-go.

Does the 530it use "flatter" rear seats?
