 Nav + HUD = Fantastic

I've had a chance to use my NAV system about a half dozen times in the past 4k miles, and I am very impressed with the way it uses the HUD to display directions. I've set my E60 to be 'slient' and not say the directions; instead it shows them on the HUD clearly and effectively.

Seems like BMW made this system especially for husbands to looks good to their mates because my wife thinks I'm suddenly so much better at finding places....

Anyhow, the HUD is worth every penny as I use it every day and really love it. Brightness is automatically controlled and isn't anoying night or day. It keeps the drivers eyes outside, on the road, rather than inside.

I've had nav systems before, but they were always 'yacking' at me and too obtrusive or forcing me to look at a small screen for directions. So I give BMW a major for their implementation with the HUD. -steve-

Guess you don't need to drive with polarized sunglasses in (rainy) Oregon, eh? I usually have my sunglasses on before the seatbelt, so HUD is a "no go" option for me.

Welcome to the 21st century...

PilotSteve-

Thanks for the brief writeup on these two options together.
I am yet to see these in action, yet ordered them for my ED 530.

HUD is probably one of the best options BMW has to offer,I never turn mine off. To bad I couldn't get it in the MY 2006 X3.I'll realy miss it. As far as the sun glass thing, change your sun glasses so you can see the HUD display.
cheers
