Well I currently have a lexus GS430 (white), I love the color white- it looks clean whereas the black- you have to maintain and keep it clean to makes it look good.
Local BMW dealership has an 04 BLACK 545i 6spd with 19k miles selling for $47k and certified up to 100k. While Chicago Bmw has a 05 Bmw 545i with all options as the black except rear power sunshade- it's WHITE with less miles (6500 miles) selling for 51k-52k.
Black will always be the color and it looks nice when it is clean. How about white? how do they look on 5 series? and which one should I go for?
05 or 04?

Avoid the '04........ I've had 3 Jet Blacks... they really aren't that hard to take care of.

What are the common problems for 2004 545i? They use the engine from the 7 Series which started 2002. So problems/bugs should be fixed, wouldn't it?
I'm looking at wrapping up the deal today with the black one

2004 = start of new model = avoid^3 NEVEREVERNEVEREVERNEVER get the first of a new model year unless you plan to dump it fast or maybe on a short-term lease. Don't get me wrong, the '04 could be a stellar car for 10 years and have zero problems but the odds are better on an '05 or '06 for that to happen. It is just the way it works.

I've got the '04 Jet Black and no problems. Bought it with only 8k miles on it so it's still "new". But if I had a choice, I'd definitely get the white one with the lower miles. Plus, like everyone else says, if there were any kinks in the '04 model, they probably worked them out with the newer '05. Good Luck with your decision. You really can't go wrong either way.
