Anyone ever have issues with the voice response not understanding any commands at all? I had my 530xi for almost three months and had this issue about 5 times so far. Twice in the past three days so it seems as if it is happening more often.
Sometimes the voice response is fine and understands everything I say but there are times where it doesn't understand a thing. I say simple commands like CD or options and get "I'm sorry I didn't understand" after about 5 to 7 seconds. The only way I can fix it is turn shut the car off and let the computer shut down. Once I start it back up everything works fine. It seems as if the mic isn't working because I can practically shout and it still doesn't understand me.
This is going to be one of those frustrating problems where I take it to the dealer and they will not be able to reproduce the problem. Hopefully this is a known issue and I didn't do a good enough search here to find others who have experienced this.

I couldn't understand you. Did you say Climate Control?

Any chance it's noisier when this happens? Background noises do affect it. We've also had times when voice control couldn't understand us. Either where it understood nothing, or misunderstood everything. (understood nothing = I couldn't understand you.) (misunderstood everthing - say CD On and have it trying to adjust your climate settings). Another thing I've noticed are times when I press the voice control button and nothing happens - no beep and no opportunity to say anything. I think these all happened shortly after booting up the I-drive.

good one, buc! Hey DMS, if possible, have someone else try the voice commands when you find the 'puter in a funk and see if it is your voice for some reason (maybe, maybe not....you have an accent?). Also, concentrate and see if you can figure out what makes the voice commands not work so you can help the dealer replicate the situation. Odds are good that a software upgrade will cure the problems.
