Hey guys.. I ordered a 550i with SMG and i was wondering how fast does it shift? Is it pretty close to M ones? I hope its not as bad as the Z4 ones. Thanks for all your help

From what I've read, the E60 SMG is supposedly way better than the Z4 by a lot, and is at least as good as the M3 SMG, but nothing is as good as the 7 speed SMG on the new M5.

Well I only have experience with the 545i/SMG and I can tell you that it shifts faster than I could and most definately faster than the Steptronic. The SMG, once you learn it, is a complete blast to have! You will LOVE IT!

I recall around .8 seconds. Manual shifting is about 1/10 slower with a pro driver.
