In the front of the center on the inside, there is a sliding door which covers a small hole. Seems like it is a connector of some sort, anybody know what it is for? TIA

Not sure if this is what you're referring to. The inside of the center console is "climate-controlled" and there is a little sliding cover which controls the outlet for the air flow.

I do not have my E60 yet, but I would think that is the door for the temp control to the console OR the ODB-II connector.
Do I win?

You can keep one 12 oz can of a drink chilled. Kinda cute I guess....
