 comfort seats vs. sport seats

what are comfort seats? i actually did not like the sport seats when i sat in them. the standard bmw seats in my 06 530 xi t are just fine by me. what am i missing? BTW, the seats in the porshe cayenne are overly hard. i ddint like them at all!!

I've only expereince the sport vs. comfort seats in E39s so I'm not sure how much this applies to E60s but here arCe my thoughts:

First and foremost, this is very subjective. We are all shaped differently and react differently. Personally, I hate the sport seat...very uncomfortable to me. The comforts have a lot more adjustments including the lumbar and the ones on the E60 even have adjustable side bolsters akin to the sport seats.

I paid for the sport package on both of my previous bimmers for several reasons, one being the seats were much better and more comfortable than the standard seats.

In the e60 (although this is highly debatable)... I think the sport seats suck!

I accidentally sat in a 545 at Rasmussens and immediately noticed the seats were much more comfortable that the 530 that I had just driven. I didn't pay much attention to actually looking at the seats... both cars were equipped with the sport package so I assumed they both had sport seats.

Later..... I sat in a 745 and noticed the obvious wierd addition to the head rests, where you can bend them around your head similar to an airliner. I went back to the 545 and noticed the same thing on the head rests. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the seats were shaped differently in the 545. Turns out it had the comfort seats option.

The comfort seats in the e60 are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. I thought the sport seats in my e39 were good......... these are incredible.

The feature I love the most...... the electronic side bolsters.

When I first turn the key... the steering wheel moves into position and the side bolsters begin to move... slowly... but firmly... gently squeezing against my torso.... almost as if to say... "Welcome back Master...".......

My main concern here is that you "accidentally" sat in a 545i. Perhaps this is something a doctor can take a look at. I can only speak for myself, but I know that when I get in my car, or anyone's car for that matter, I am well aware I am doing it.

I'm just kidding with you, but it was funny!

I guess by "accidentally" I meant.......... at the time I was only interested in a 530... the 545 was a bit (price wise) outside my comfort area. I was going from one e60 to another... and didn't realize that I was sitting in a 545...........

I am sooooo happy I went with the 545, soooo much fun.

Sport seats are more comftable to me, I've tried both but comfort seats were too soft for my taste. I realy dig headrest on comfort seat though.
