Anyone know why comfort access is $500 in the 3 and $1000 in the 5? Does it do more in the 5 to justify the doubled cost?

The 5 series buyers subsidize the 3 series buyers. I don't think it does anything different. For $1000 I didn't think it was worth it, personally I think it should be standard in the 5.

that comfort access is a complete rip off. $1,000 so you dont have to take the key out of your pocket. it should be standard in the 5. why its cheaper in the 3 is a f@#$ing joke. i hope BMW reads this. Its things like this that make me want to buy a different car!!!!!

Today I received an Lexus IS250 loaner while my other car was in service and that entry level, base Lexus model even had the Smart Key feature (just keep the keys in your pocket and hit the start button). Why do I continue to have to insert my key into my BMW and then hit the start button. The only reason, is I didn't shell out another $1,000 to get this feature. BMW has to fix this and it should be standard in 2007, but probably will not.

While I was not happy about paying $1K for it, I certainly LOVE this option!
