Well, I got a really nice looking 6, but I wouldn't consider it my pride and joy. I love it as heck. But, I get really embarassed when people come up to me and compliment me on my car. I say thanks. But, do you really feel that way about your car?
The things that I take 'pride and joy' in are thing I've actually created, and really worked at to make, "with my own hands, and mind". I play the piano, and I draw. And when, I get compliments on my playing, or composing, or my sketches, that really means something to me. Getting compliments on my car is puzzling, and embarassing, because I bought it. It was an acquisition, and I feel like the praise is undeserved.
(This is not to say, I neglect my 6. On the contrary, of the 6ers in my neighborhood, I think I have the best maintained one just by judging the exterior condition of the cars.)
Had I built my 6, or designed it, then I would feel comfortable taking peoples compliments.
I might take the compliments better say 10-20 years from now, when I've worked diligently all these years to make my 6er look like brand new.

my wife and I refer to our bimmer as "midnight" since its black.
This isn't because we think of it as a member of the family or anything, its just a fun nickname.

"Liz" like Elizabeth Hurley, somewhat European. I just couldn't imagine naming her 'Helga' or something.
