 Family Hauler X5 or 530xit?

My wife can't make up her mind, X5 or 530xit. I am thinking the 325xit, but not many on the West Coast.

Both have great lease rates, more loaded X5 on the West Coast.

Anyone have a thought about the two, which one would you take?

Thanks

We just leased a 530xit and are very happy with it. The seating comfort and handling seemed much better than the X5. The back seat is actually roomier than the standard 5 series sedan - mainly the middle seat is more flat and less bucket shaped than the sedan. This makes it much better for three children in the back seat. Also, there are way too many X5s around, so the 530 is more individual. We also test drove the Volvo xc70 and the Audi A6 Avant and there was no comprison.

I'm sure happy with my 530xiT. Good looking, different from the crowd, and the current X5 is getting a little long in the tooth.

Only one other consideration -- there's a bit of a visability challenge with the xiT. I've only had mine for a few days, and it's taking some getting used to. You might consider park distance control.

i've been rolling with this same question as well. i've enjoyed the sedan for about a year now, and it has given a little bit more room for the dog, but the wagon or X5 would be more user friendly for me. i've been thinking of waiting until the fall for the new X5 to debut and see how i like it. once you get used to some of the newer features in the 5's, moving to the current X5 feels like moving back to my previous E46 330.
however, despite any wagon "stigmas" or teasing comments from my peers about a "single guy with a wagon", they all admit that the 530xiT with the M aero package and 18" wheels is a tough looking car!! if BMWNA would've brought in the 550iT in the states, i wouldn't hesitate for a second.

My problem is time, we have a Denali XL that needs work, and I really don't want to put any money into it.

Trying to find a nicely loaded 530xit on the West Coast is the Challenge.

No question about it. The 530xiT is the ultimate family hauler in my opinion. I had an X3 for almost a year and was bored with it. The xiT is the best all-around vehicle I've ever owned. Outstanding mix of luxury, performance and utility and you never forget for one minute that you're driving a BMW. Good luck
