Finally buying: Help me choose: New 06 530i vs CPO 06 530i
Hi all. Well, I have finally made the decision, I am getting a 2006 530i. Yes, I know the 07 is around the corner, but my price is $500 over invoice, which I believe is very good. (Please tell if it is not a good price, before I part with the money) I do have a choice of two cars, the dealer is awaiting my choice: Here are the facts: New 2006 530i Silver Grey, Black Interior Automatic Sport Package Premium Package Navigation Pricing is as follows Invoice $42770 Destination 695 Automatic 1210 Sport 2095 Premium 1710 Navigation 1640 Price over Invoice 500 Total $50620 Tax at 7.97% 4034 License/Fees 490 OUT THE DOOR $55144 2006 CPO 530i, Black Sapphire, Black Interior Options are as follows: Automatic Sport Premium Navigation HUD Cold Weather Package OUT THE DOOR PRICE is $51,000 I like both colors, so no problems there. I just need advice and or opinions as to which one you people would get if you were buying and why? It really does help me to make a good decision, when I am able to hear the opinions of others. I take everything in, analyze it, then decide. Thanks to a GREAT Forum! | | Reply » Finally buying: Help me choose: New 06 530i vs CPO 06 530i | I forgot to put the mileage of the CPO 2006, It has 13,000 miles, with a July 05 Build Date.

Not that there aren't any good used cars, but I feel buying a used car is a gamble. I would pay the $4000.00 premium for the new car in a heartbeat. Look at it this way, in only 7000 miles, your CPO will have 20,000 miles on it, whereas your nice new car won't even have hit 5 digits.
If you want, give me the VIN on the CPO. I'll look up the car on CarFax and maybe that will ease your mind.

Did you ask anything about the previous owner or why they got rid of the car? I know it's a CPO, which would ease my mind quite a bit, but I think I'd go new for a $4k difference if the money isn't a major issue. Good luck.

I will ask those questions. I too have been wondering more and more, since 13,000 miles is a lot for a July 05 build. Maybe, I will get the new 06? What do you or any other posters think of the deal on the New 06? Also, do you think I am making a mistake by buying a 06 now, when the 07 is around the corner?
Thank you.

If it is going to be past the 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty, then you have to factor in the value of the CPO warranty that goes to 7 year, 100,000 miles. That is worth $1,000 to $1,500.
Are you a BMW CCA member over a year? A new purchase gets you a $1,000 refund where a CPO only gets you a $500 refund.
So if you are planning on selling the E60 before the 4 year 50,000 mile warranty ends, there is no extra value for the CPO and your difference in price may only be $3,500 if you are going to be able to receive a BMW CCA refund.
