With the scarcity of 525i in Los Angeles my local dealer is able to get me one in 10 days without navi., which is an option i really want. I was wondering if i can have navi installed into the car later and what it would cost. Also is there a difference between the screens in a navi and non navi car?

The size appears to be the same. But due to the proprietary programming and computers imbedded in the BMW, you may not be able to have it added. Ask Fry's Electronic to direct you to someone in LA who mat be able to help. Also ask your dealer.

The screen size in a non-nav car is different from the screen in a nav car. The cars also use a different computer. There is no retrofit.

I just bought a Nuvi 350 portable GPS for about $740. It's great. PC Magazine Editor's choice: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1880576,00.asp

You can use it in rental cars, in your other cars, when you walk...

Tough call...I'd say wait and get the more nicely integrated OEM Nav from BMW. I think the NAV is good for resale value as well. If you really want it...then be patient and wait for exactly what you want!

With the price you are paying for this car, it would be a shame not to get it the way you want it. IF you don't get the options you want, you will always look back and say what if. Don't put yourself through that. Just wait and get what you want. Thats just my .02 worth.
