Smog certification and probably have to let the DOT/NHTSA crash test about 10 of them.
I sure sleep better knowing some dolt in Washington is keeping us safe...

guess i will be keeping my 530 xi t then. it has enough power for me. honestly, the whole power game (more is better) is foolish imho. but then again, i am not much of a sport driver. just like to have enough power for passing and getting on the on-ramp that is it. that m5 wagon sure sounds pretty cool though.

I thought that you can get a single car imported as a one-off if it passes all of the emissions and safety standards. If the car doesn't already meet the US standards (I simply don't know how the emissions and safety standards differ these days), I'm guessing in the multiple 10's of thousands IF you can find someone who can do the modifications.

Come on wagonman.... and M5 wagon? It was bad enough when they made a 4 door M3.

hey Spartacus_33.ever been to europe? the wagon has an entirely different conotation there it is no soccer mom thing over there. in fact, wagons are seen as cool. they have the driving characteristics of a sedan and the added utility and convenience of a wagon. throw in AWD (via the x-drive) and you have the true SUV. an m5 wagon is hot in my mind....also, while i am at it another thing about wagons that very few people actually understand is this: go to some upper-crust towns in connecticut such as darien, new canaan, greenwich and you will "get" the whole bmw wagon thing. there is something extra elegant, classic and refined about them. When you get what i am talking about..then you truly get it that wagons are COOL.
