How's the car doing in the snow/ice with snow tires?
I'm a little concerned for the occasional snowy icy roads we get.

I guess if I take the tire chaines out of my trunk we will have a blizzard shortly.
Seriously, I would suggest a set of four snow tires, on rims, if you are going to take your E60 out in the snow/ice.

I will get 4 snow tires...
my question is...what have been people's experiences driving a 550i or 545i w/ snows in harsher weather?

Hey Ari.
As you know, winter here in CT has been pretty tame this year but I did change the stock GoodYear's on my 545 to Continental TS810 back in December and have noticed a difference. I live on a hill and although I have not driven in anything heavier than 1 to 2 inches of plowed snow, my old tires would get me no where.
As far as falling snow or 5 to 8 inches, I haven't bothered.. just take our XC70 instead. I guess i bought the snows in case I got jammed one day and had to take my car otherwise my strategy will be to just avoid driving it if I can.
