Alright...so is anyone else having as hard a time trying to get acclimated with the comfort brakes? I hear I should just apply consistant pressure to the brake when stopping and that the system will ease up near the end to come to a smooth stop. However, it just doesn't work that way. It instead comes to a rather abrupt stop. Does anyone have any insight to this annoying problem?

I too have this complaint. I've even tried shifting my steptronic to neutral while rolling to a stop - that helps a little but still the stop is sudden. I've never encountered a car with this problem before! Its a nasty flaw in an otherwise fantastic vehicle! Wish there was a solution... -steve-

Funny - I've put almost 3000 miles on my 530xiT (Oct '05 build) and haven't noticed anything about the brakes which feels different from other cars I've driven. Maybe the x-drive cars don't have this feature, or maybe its because my car has a manual tranny.
Just curious if my car has this feature.

Manual transmissions shouldn't have the comfort stop--it's for automatics. And 5 series cars built before 9/05 don't have it, even if they have step.

I'm getting better at stoping - but it is far from smooth. Rumor has it cars without comfort stop don't stop too well - but I for one can feel this thing working against me.
