Dealer says he will give 29k for trade in.
What gives? Who is wrong? The dealer or edmunds?
If these cars are supposed to keep their resale so well, I would think the dealer would deal.

Not many takers for it and the dealer wants to play it safe. I suggest that you try a private sale for the car if you want more. You could try using Ebay etc. to get a wider audience. And next time lease your $50K car.
FWIW I sold my 2003 E39 525 (see below) for $29K last November. It had 29xxx miles. This was a private party sale. I think the trade in would have been around $25-26K. In general car prices are higher in the SF Bay Area though.

| | Reply » 2004 525i trade in value | If no SMG, then the dealer is a stealer.
And for god's sake, lease the car. It saves you from the depreciation hassle and the residuals are very nice (read high).
