An electric car Bimmer drivers will love. Part1
So assuming that peak oil productoin will happen in 2005, as the experts predict (Peak oil production signifies the end of cheap, easy access oil.), what IS BMW doing about it? VW has the turbo direct injection cars, coming soon to america. Japan has the hybrids. What does BMW, Audi, and Mercedes have?
I'm wondering if the German cars are gonna get hit in the American markets if gas prices remain as high as they are in the states. Maybe the Germans know something we don't, like oil prices will drop.... however, If you look at the charts, there have been cyclical dips in gasoline, but over the past 3 years, gas prices have been increasing, and worse, accelerating.
I know you Europeans are accostomed to $4-5USD/gallon gas. We Americans are not.

They are designed for high fuel prices and have been that way for decades. What may become less popular on BMWs are the large engines and body styles that adapted them to a country with cheap fuel.

What does BMW, Audi, and Mercedes have? | You know, I have absolutely no idea. Anyone? You may see falling sales of the biggest models, and a move towards smaller engines and diesels but with the same levels of build, handling etc. Which BMW has made an abundance of since its inception, so I don't really see what the problem is for BMW at this point.
